<text>Hoping to see you at the Library’s Grand Reopening,
Sunday, June 23, at 1 pm!
There will be a brief outdoor ceremony followed by the official ribbon cutting
Come and enjoy refreshments, entertainment and tours in the Library until about 4
pm
Materials can be returned through June 30 without incurring fines
Special note: Since the Library’s parking lot will be the site of the ribbon cutting ceremony,
we’ve included a map showing some alternate parking choices:
Our good friends at the First Presbyterian Church just south of the Library will allow
Library guests to use their lot on that day.
Additional parking is available at the Lindemann lot (behind Running Away
Multisport), Jewett Park parking lot off of Hazel Ave., Deerfield Metra Station on
Park Ave., and Holy Cross Church.
Limited Handicapped parking for cars displaying the appropriate placard will be
available behind the Deerfield Police Station. Please enter off of Waukegan Rd. and
Jewett Park Dr.
The Library lot will be open by 1:30 or 2 if you plan to come later.
Looking forward to seeing you!

How It Works
Search for books, DVDs, audiobooks, CDs and more. Place holds, check due dates and
renew items. Find out what’s happening at the library, or contact us. We’re here for you!
We've also included a great new way to search our catalog. Start typing the first letters of
the title or author you’re looking for. So for books on "Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis," just
type "ja ke on" and you’ll get results right away.

Use the BookLook Feature
BookLook™ allows you to scan the ISBN code of a book in a bookstore, coffee shop,
anywhere and check availability at the Library and instantly reserve it via your mobile
device.

Library Expansion and Remodeling:

Annual Cost to Taxpayers will be lower than expected
On behalf of the Deerfield Public Library, the Village of
Deerfield sold the remainder of the building project bonds
this week to fund the library construction. The first series
of bonds was sold in 2011.

At the time of the November 2010 referendum, Library
consultants projected that taxpayers would pay about $88
annually to fund the project. However, thanks to
advantageously low interest rates and the Village’s Aaa
bond rating, it is now anticipated that taxpayers will pay
about $76 to $79 each year (based on a home valued at
$500,000 at the time of the referendum). The bond
issuance is structured to provide as flat a payback rate as
possible over the 20-year life of the bonds, through
property taxes.
“We are all very proud and pleased that we are able to
give Deerfield taxpayers a newly remodeled and
expanded Library for less cost per year than we had
anticipated,” says Ken Abosch, Library Board president.
“And, of course, we thank the Village of Deerfield for
making the arrangements for the sale of these bonds on
our behalf.”
At the current time, the Library building project is on-time
